The Blade

The Surgeon cuts
at least I think
he cuts
I do not feel the blade
I do not feel the blood
But he's there
I know he's there
inside of me
the surgery underway
Yet, I do not feel the blade
There is only the knowledge
that all is not normal
within
the knowledge of this
intruder
the local anesthesia
works its wonders
for I do not feel the blade
neither do I see the wound
the veil is my cloud
but the wound is there
I know it's there

I remind myself
this is necessary
for healing
I remind myself
the Surgeon is skilled
I remind myself
that tomorrow
I will feel the blade
